Seychelles

11th June 2017
I have always wanted to go to the Seychelles, I had seen images of the the beautiful beaches and landscapes as well as the birdlife so finally we headed off to visit the Seychelles for a week.

We decided to stay on Praslin Island for 3 nights and then onto La Digue Island for 3 nights and then do some day trips for birding and snorkelling, we only stayed in Mahe Island for the night of our arrival and departure and never experienced much of Mahe.

Praslin Island was nice and had some beautiful beaches and A small reserve called Vallee de Mai which we visited for a few hours.

I also did a day trip to Curiese Island which I found very touristy and overcrowded.

The second part of our stay was on La Digue Island, a smaller Island as slightly less busy than Praslin Island. On la Digue the most common mode of Transport is going by bicycle so we hired some bikes and cycled around the Island.

La Digue has some spectacular beaches and we spent some time photographing the beaches and landscape, there is also a even smaller reserve called Veuve Special reserve where we managed to find the Endemic Seychelles Paradise flycatcher.

We did a day trip from La Digue to go snorkelling at some close by Islands and we were fortunate enough to see a Hawksbill Sea Turtle.

Overall I enjoyed my time in the Seychelles but was disappointed that we had not seen more Wildlife and birds and for me it was very touristy and overcrowded but in spite of this we managed to get some nice images and see some interesting things.
