Mountain Zebra National Park Part 2

20th May 2017
The Following morning we headed straight to where we had left the Lion the evening before, when we arrived we saw that the rest of the family had arrived, 2 Lionesses and 2 young cubs, the cubs were quite playful in the early morning and it was great fun to watch them spar and tackle each other.

As the sun came up over the mountain the Lioness moved off into the bush seeking some shade and the cubs followed, it had been a great 20 minutes of Lion watching but as the action wound down and the Lions moved off we headed off to continue our drive.

The rest of the day we got lovely images of Mountain Zebra, Black wildebeest and a Male Ostrich on the grassy plains.

We also watched and Photographed a Secretary bird as it moved through the grassland looking for a meal.

In the Valley we came across a troop of Vervet monkeys, they were searching through the leaf litter looking for a meal, one very young baby was attached to his moms breast and was happily suckling, for a brief moment we were able to get a few images of the youngster before Mom moved off.

On the final afternoon of our stay in the Park we managed to get some images of a Bokmakieire as it called from the top of a small bush.

We then headed up to the Plateau where we again got some great Images of Mountain Zebras and Black Wildebeest against the Beautiful mountainous backdrop.

Our time in Mountain Zebra National Park had been great and we were sad to leave this beautiful place.
